Azelf, one of the 3 Lake Trio monsters, has just been added to Tier 5 gym raids, giving Trainers in the U.S. (and Greenland) the opportunity to add him to their collection.
For those of you planning to take him on at the gym, here’s what you’ll need to know about this newest Legendary foe.
Azelf Versus Mewtwo
Although not quite as good as Mewtwo, Azelf is better than any other Psychic Pokémon, stat wise, including Espeon & Alakazam.
100% CP: 1834
100% WB CP: 2293
Azelf is boosted in Windy Weather
Giratina Origin Forme with Shadow Ball
Gengar with Shadow Ball
Mewtwo with Shadow Ball
Weavile: Feint Attack/Foul Play
Houndoom: Snarl/Foul Play
Honchkrow: Snarl/Dark Pulse
# Of Trainers Needed for a Defeat
It is possible to duo Azelf if you’re a Level 40 Trainer with a team of Shadow Ball Giratina & Gengar. Otherwise, at least 3 Trainers are required.
Hardest Movesets to Defeat
Azelf may not look like much, but he’s actually worth having in your line-up especially if you never had the chance to add Mewtwo to your Pokédex. Although Azelf isn’t better than Mewtwo, as a Psychic attacker, he’s pretty darn close, making him a very nice substitute.
Azelf will be available until 4pm EST on 5/27.
If for some reason you aren’t able to add Azelf to your Pokédex while the monster is available in gym raids, Niantic has stated that this rare spawning Legendary will continue to be catchable in the wild, even after this event.
