Back in June, we sat down with Douglas Bogart, co-owner of Limited Run Games, for an interview about his company. 3 months prior to our talk, Doug had revealed via his Twitter account and a conversation with Gaming Trend that Nintendo Switch titles were in the works. When we asked Doug if LRG was still on track with publishing for the Switch, he told us that Nintendo was playing catch-up at the time and it would most likely be quarter 4 or even early 2018 before anything came to fruition.
Lo and behold, Doug’s guess was right on track. According to an official LRG tweet on October 20th, the company has been approved to publish titles on the Nintendo Switch and their first release will hit in 2018!
As you can guess, many fans were excited about this new development, but also a little worried about how this would affect their wallets now that LRG will be putting out titles on 3 different consoles (Switch, PS4, PS Vita).
Co-owner Josh Fairhurst responded to concerns on Twitter, saying,
We only intend to release one Switch title a month so we’re putting a focus toward heavy hitters at the moment.
Switch titles will follow their own release schedule. We won’t always release the Switch version of a multi-platform game that we’ve signed.
Josh also went on to say that they’re looking at the possibility of Switch games being released on Mondays or Wednesdays (as opposed to Fridays). (But, that’s not a definite yet).
To add even more anticipation to the already exciting news, Doug tweeted the following, on October 26th:
This, of course, sent fans into a tailspin, trying to figure out just what these titles will be. Some had humorous responses while others had some genuinely good guesses. If you’d like to see what people had to say, click here.
This is a momentous occasion for Limited Run Games. We’re quite excited about their expansion to a new console and we look forward to buying Switch titles from them next year!
Have any thoughts on what the 1st two Switch titles from LRG will be? Let us know your guesses in the comment section below. (Personally, we’re hoping “Golf Story” is one of them!)
