As Limited Run Games dives into the ocean of publishing for the Switch, the company is also dipping its toe into the pool of PlayStation VR. The company announced yesterday that they will begin releasing VR titles on an “infrequent” basis to “test the water” and see if this is a viable area in which to expand their business.
The first title, which will release on Wednesday, 3/21, is Pixel Gears from Oasis Games. 1,800 copies will be available and the cover of the game, like with Thimbleweed Park on the Switch, will be numbered #001.
The company explained on Twitter that their reasoning for going into the VR arena, is because “PlayStation VR is a neat platform with a very collectible little set of physical releases.” The company also explained that since they were only releasing a tiny amount of VR games, they’d be easily collected by their fans.
This is an exciting time for LRG as they guide their business into new directions. It’ll certainly be interesting to see if LRG finds the VR water “inviting” or “too cold.”
