Niantic has announced that they are sponsoring an exciting competition which will give developers the opportunity to share their innovative ideas for real-world AR, with the hopes of possibly creating those concepts using Niantic’s platform.
Those who’d like to submit their proposals can do so through Niantic’s website. The deadline to enter is February 17th.
Niantic does have certain requirements for entrants including that developers must apply as part of a team consisting of at least 5 members. The company explains that this qualification is due to the massive nature of developing for their platform.
Each team will need to create a 5-minute video explaining who they are. They will also need to write-up a (no more than 10 page) game design brief.
After the submissions have been judged next year, 10 teams will receive a stipend and spend the Summer creating a demo of their idea. From there, 3 teams will be selected as finalists and awarded the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place prizes.
If you’d like to register for the competition, you can do so here.
