Ubisoft released a pre-E3 statement from Massive Entertainment on Thursday announcing that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is in the works. In the reveal it was disclosed that the game will be a sequel and powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine, which was used in the build of the original.
Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at ME, states that the company is making the second game as part of a “larger saga” they’ve envisioned since the launch of the 1st game in 2016. Over the past 2 years, ME has interacted with “Division” fans through livestreams, surveys, and social media to gather feedback which they’re “applying” toward their development of TD2 to “make sure they get it right.”
Although they’re working on something new, ME promises that they’re not forgetting about their current game or its fans. In fact, they have several new things planned including “new Global Events, XB1 enhancements, and more.” A new achievement is also on the way called, “Shields,” which, when earned, “will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it releases.”
No other details were given, just a declaration that more will be revealed at E3 in June.
