Last night’s Game Awards event was a terrific showcasing of the best of the best of 2018 as well as an exciting platform for developers to announce what’s coming next year.
Much like the video games that were up for nomination, it was obvious that this highly professional livestream show requires a tremendous amount of preparation, planning, and work as well as the involvement of a large amount of people.
When all is said and done, however, it’s producer & host Geoff Keighley, that deserves most of the credit.
Although the livestream was quite long, clocking in at almost 3 1/2 hours (including the pre-show), not a moment was wasted with the presentation or receiving of awards or when it came to the “world premiere” announcements. (Take note Academy Awards)!
Besides the Game of the Year reveal, one of the most extraordinary moments of the whole night occurred just as things were getting started when, for the first time ever, the head honchos from the BIG 3 (Reggie Fils-Aime, Phil Spencer, & Shawn Layden), stood side by side on stage to discuss how the video game industry benefits when everyone works together for a common goal. (Yes, it was truly as remarkable as it sounds).
Of course, the reason that most people were watching, other than hoping to see a trailer for the one game they’ve been waiting/hoping for, was to find out who won in each category.
For those of you who may’ve missed out on the show, here’s a recap of the nominees and who took home each prize.
