In a livestream last week, Nintendo showed off their next big mobile game; Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The (almost) 14-minute presentation gave viewers an opportunity to see some of the basics of how the game will work.
Here’s a brief rundown of what was covered.
You’re in Charge
Your character will function as a campsite manager. It will be your job to make each campsite you’re in charge of, the best looking and most comfortable it can be. Your decoration will be influenced by a few different factors including your personal preferences and those of your friends.
Friendship
Becoming friends with the animals is one of the keys to your success. The more you do with and for your pals, the higher your friendship levels will rise. Chat with them, fulfill their personal quests, and host them at a site.
Persuade them to come visit your sites by crafting furniture/amenities that they like. Different animals will be drawn to different types of décor items, so you’ll want to have a variety at each area you manage.
Crafting Items
The items that can be crafted fall into 2 main categories; Furniture and Amenities.
– Furniture items can be created within a few hours and only require a basic amount of materials.
– Amenities are huge projects that will take many hours/days to complete and will require an extraordinarily large amount of resources.
Cyrus is the “go to” guy for anything you want to be made. Just put in an order and provide him with the needed supplies.
Materials for crafting can be obtained 3 different ways:
1. Exploring your surroundings
2. Completing quests for friends
3. Purchasing them with Leaf Tickets
Leaf Tickets can be bought with real world money or earned through regular gameplay. And, they’re not just for procuring materials either. They’re also used to entice Cyrus to get your projects done faster, to buy useful items like a throw net for fish or honey to attract bugs, and to gain entrance to Shovel Strike Quarry, where rare minerals can be mined.
Bells
The main currency in the game is bells. Bells can be acquired by the following:
– Fulfilling quests
– Shaking trees
– Selling items
My Camper
Your camper will be your source of transportation and a safe-haven when you need to take a break. You can decorate it inside and out. Beppe, Carlo, and Giovanni of OK Motors will do all of the work.
If you decide that the basic camper just isn’t enough room, you can have a 2nd story added to the top. But do be warned, the work won’t be cheap. So, if you don’t have enough bells, you can take out a loan.
What else Can I Do in the Game?
– Play in real time – experience morning, day, evening, and night
– Customize your character
– Shop in the Market Place for furniture Cyrus can’t build, clothing items for your character, and more
