My time with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a magical experience to say the least. To be completely up front with you, I am a lifelong Zelda fan, having played many of the titles in the series. I know investing the necessary time in this action/RPG behemoth can be overwhelming, but it is absolutely worth it!
The sense of freedom, the sense of exploration, the size of the world, the amazing new things that you discover in every nook and cranny of the map, the sense of progression, all lead to a one-of-a-kind experience.
I was especially struck by the sense of loneliness and desolation in a world where the characters and landscapes have all been ravaged by 100 years of evil at the hand of Ganon and his minions. Though the actions of the characters that you meet in the game often reflect this history of supression, the subtleties of the world also tells the story of what may have happened at some point during that long history of being under the control of evil.
True to life, some characters have given up, some have embraced the anxiety of the situation, dealing with it in their own crazy way, and some still hang onto hope for a better future.
