Niantic has announced a brand new event, called Incense Day, for Sunday, April 19th, which will allow Trainers to catch a multitude of monsters from the comfort of their home.
Not only will this be a terrific opportunity to quickly up that Stardust amount, it’ll be a great time to earn extra XP, fill in the Pokédex with missing monsters, add-on to that candy count for evolutions/power ups, and possibly add to the shiny collection.

Although Niantic has listed the above Pokémon as “definite” spawns, they may allow some additional monsters to be included in the mix. As usual, we’ll have to wait and see what happens when the event takes place.
One thing we do know is that each monster we denoted as a (rare spawn) will most likely be less prevalent than all others showcased during that particular hour.
Niantic has also said that Sentret will be spawning throughout the 6-hour event which means this will be a great time to try and get a shiny version of this normal type.
Tips for the Event:
– Run a Star Piece throughout (to earn extra Stardust)
– Run Lucky Eggs (to earn XP to level up)
– Throw Pinap Berries to earn Candy (for power ups/evolutions)
– Pre-purchase 6 Incense (if planning to catch during the whole event)
– Open gifts before the event if you need a supply of Poké Balls/Berries
– Purchase the in-game Poké Ball Box for additional supplies (Cost: 1 Pokécoin)
Any incense used during (and before/after) the event, will last one hour. Pokémon should spawn at least 1 every 60 seconds (if not more).
On Sunday, Niantic will be adding a special bundle to the in-game shop which will include 3 Incense for 1 Pokécoin.
If you don’t really have the time or desire to participate in the whole 6-hour event, then you may want to hone in on the hours that are most important to you/your account.
To help in this decision, you may want to assess which shiny Pokémon you’re missing from the collection, which monsters you still need to fill in the Pokédex, and/or which quality fighters you may want to add to your team.
Good luck on Sunday!
Be safe. Be well. We hope to see you again soon.
