Although Sony had a huge amount of big, exciting titles to showcase at their E3 conference this year, one of the games that intrigued me the most was a small sized, party game called Hidden Agenda. You might’ve missed seeing it because it wasn’t announced on the main stage, but rather in one of the live pre-shows beforehand.
The game is being developed by Until Dawn creators, Supermassive Games. They describe it as a gritty thriller with a twist. As you and your friends attempt to hunt down a serial killer, you don’t know at any given time if you’re working with or against each other.
From the footage we’ve seen so far, Hidden Agenda appears to be a perfect match for casual gamers, especially those who love a good, cerebral mystery where the decisions you make greatly affect the outcome of the story. It also looks like a heck of a party game where up to 5 players can secretly work to outmaneuver each other, trying to steer the game toward their own “hidden agenda.” (You can also play the game on your own, but where’s the fun in that?)
Instead of a PS4 controller, participants will use their IOS or Android phone, via PlayLink. In case you’re unfamiliar with PlayLink, it’s a new type of social play recently introduced by Sony that combines your smartphone or tablet device, TV, and PS4 console. Supermassive Games explains in a behind the scenes video that they used this set-up to give players a 2nd screen to work off of and so they could target specific information in the game to each player.
So, do you trust your friends to do the right thing? Or, will they turn against you to save themselves? We’ll all find out when the game releases on October 25th.
Pre-orders are available via Amazon and the PlayStation store for $19.99. (A compatible phone and companion app are required).
