Nintendo announced last month that a challenging new mini-game called, “Luigi’s Balloon World,” would be coming soon to the Super Mario Odyssey game. As of today, this new content is now available (via an update).
The content is free of charge but not playable until you complete the game. And, for good reason because this seemingly innocent diversion, actually requires players to have a hardcore, in-depth knowledge of SMO areas in order to succeed.
There are 2 main ways to play; Find It or Hide It. As you can guess by the names, you’re either choosing to find a balloon someone else has hidden or hide one to be located by your opponent.
You have 30 seconds to complete either task you choose. The better your hiding job or, on the flip side, the faster you can locate, the higher you’ll rank. You can then compare your rank to that of others on-line.
Also a part of this update are 3 new purchasable costumes for Mario.
Lastly, 2 Snapshot Modes have been added; Coin and Neon.
