Indie developer, Playful Corp, has announced the extraordinary news that a new version of Super Lucky’s Tale, which released as an Xbox One X launch title in 2017, will be coming later this year to the Nintendo Switch. Instead of the game being a pure port of the original though, the Switch version will be a reimagined edition that incorporates major changes made by the developer to help this Banjo-Kazooie type platformer finally meet its full potential.
So, what exactly has changed, you may be asking? According to the developer’s website and twitter account, the title is receiving a full overhaul in every possible way.
Graphics have been greatly enhanced.
The main character, Lucky, is now a biped instead of running on all 4 paws.
A greater variety of gameplay has been added including new puzzles, 2D side scrolling levels, and boss fights.
Player controls and movement have been greatly improved.
There’s now a fully rotatable 3D camera.
Sound, music, and character dialogue have been revamped.
The game has also been given a “New” at the beginning of its name to indicate that this is indeed a fresh take on this previously published title.
New Super Lucky’s Tale will spring onto the Nintendo Switch sometime this Fall. The game will be available both digitally and physically.
And, if you’re an Xbox One owner, don’t lose heart if you’re wondering whether or not this newest edition might be coming your way, as the developer has indicated a want to publish New Super Lucky’s Tale for this and other platforms if given the opportunity down the road.
